Men's Soccer Falls at Army on Tuesday Night
Blue Devils will host Vermont on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team had it's two-match winning streak stopped with a 3-0 loss on the road at Army on Tuesday night. Central had won two straight games, each by a 1-0 score, during a 2-0 week last week.
With the loss the Blue Devils are now 3-3 overall on the season. Army improves to 3-2-3 with the victory.
The two teams played a scoreless first half and the Blue Devils held a 4-3 advantage in shots at the break. The Black Knights made a pair of saves on CCSU shots before halftime, and neither team recorded a corner kick in the first 45 minutes.
However, Army held a 14-3 edge in shots in the second half, including 6-1 in shots on goal, as they found the back of the net three times to earn the victory.
Senior Josef Abele had two saves in net for the Blue Devils in the loss. Central also had a team save in the match.
The game was scoreless until the 63rd minute when Army's Mario Da Silva beat Abele for the game's first score and the lead. Teammate Alex Jaroscak scored just over six minutes later to make it 2-0. The third goal came in the 78th minute from Christian Oilen.
The Blue Devils return home for the first time in four matches on Sunday, hosting Vermont at 1 p.m. Fans can watch live on www.NECFrontRow.com.
