Stankowski Named Defensive Player of the Week
Freshman Cassidy Stankowski was named the Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Central Connecticut volleyball freshman Cassidy Stankowski was named Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Stankowski helped the Blue Devils to a four set victory over Bryant on Saturday. In addition, the victory, paired with the outcomes of the NEC's other matches on Saturday, secured CCSU its 11th consecutive NEC Tournament appearance.
The victory over the Bulldogs was the only match for the Blue Devils (17-7, 8-2 NEC) last week.
Stankowski continued her strong play with an excellent defensive effort against Bryant. Stankowski posted 15 digs in the match. She also contributed a pair of blocks for CCSU's net defense.
On offense, Stankoski posted eight kills and had a service ace.
She averaged 2.0 kills, 3.75 digs, 0.50 blocks and 0.25 aces per set in CCSU's four set victory.
The Blue Devils return to action with a match at Sacred Heart on Saturday. They will follow that with a match at Fairliegh Dickinson on Sunday.
