Schwab Named Rookie of the Week
Volleyball freshman Brooke Schwab was named Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
Central Connecticut volleyball freshman Brooke Schwab was named Molten/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The award is the third rookie honor of the season for Schwab who has also earned NEC defensive player of the week accolades two-times this season.
Schwab helped the Blue Devils extend their win streak to seven over the weekend, averaging 2.71 kills and 1.29 blocks per set. She hit .389 in the two wins, collecting 19 kills on 36 attempts over CCSU's seven sets of competition.
On Saturday, Schwab posted eight kills against Saint Francis U with a .538 attack percentage. She followed that with 11 kills and six blocks against Robert Morris on Sunday.
Schwab recorded nine total blocks and committed just one blocking error in the two victories. She currently ranks fourth in the NEC with 1.10 blocks per outing and has compiled a conference-best 13 solo blocks.
Schwab and the Blue Devils host Bryant on Saturday at Detrick Gym. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and is available on NECFrontRow.com.
