Volleyball Falls to Colgate, 3-0
Makenna Lommori posted 23 assists, 12 digs and six kills.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to the host Raiders of Colgate in three sets on Friday night. The Blue Devils fall to 0-2 with the loss, the match was the first of the season for Colgate. CCSU will finish play in the Colgate Invitational Tournament with a match against Binghamton tomorrow.
The Raiders captured a tight first set, 26-24, and then followed with 25-18 and 25-15 victories to finish the sweep.
CCSU was led by sophomore Makenna Lommori who posted 23 assists, 12 digs and six kills. She also posted a .500 hitting percentage for the match.
Sophomore Heather Trueman posted a team-high nine kills in the match on 33 total attacks. Junior Rachel Dunlap and freshman Brooke Schwab each posted seven kills. Senior Veronika Ban was the fourth Blue Devil with multiple kills, she totaled three.
Defensively, junior Brittany Schumacher recorded a team-high 15 digs. Dunlap led the team's blockers with four, with Lommori, Ban and freshman Cassidy Stankowski also contributing.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Binghamton.
