Durham Sets Two School Marks, Qualifies for NCAA Zones on Friday at Yale
The Blue Devils and Huskies will begin at 12 noon on Saturday at CCSU
The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team got back into action on Friday night competing at #24 Yale, dropping a 158-80 decision to the nationally-ranked Bulldogs. Junior diver Annemarie Durham finished second in the 3 meter diving event with a school-record score of 282.53, qualifying for the NCAA Zone Qualifier.
Durham's score topped her own school record that she set earlier this season at the Frank Elm Invite at Rutgers.
Later in the meet she also set a new school record in the 1 meter event with a score of 272.34.
Senior Christine Rasile finished first in the 100 freestyle event in a time of 51.55. She was followed by junior teammate Lauren Czulewicz who finished second in a time of 53.33.
Central posted three of the top four times in the 100 yard breaststroke led by junior Maddy Garber in a time of 1:04.43. Senior Lisa Ward swam in 1:06.64 and sophomore Kailey Demers came in in a time of 1:06.99.
The Blue Devils posted the third fastest time in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.15. Lauren Czulewicz, freshman Erika Maercklein, Rasile and sophomore Kaitlyn Troy posted the fastest time for the Blue Devils in the event.
The CCSU 200 medley relay team of Troy, Garber, junior Sabree Thomas and Rasile finished fourth with a time of 1:46.74.
Freshman Valentina Gomez was third in the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 10:33.81. Maercklein was the top Blue Devil finisher in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.32.
Sophomore Aidan Devers finished third in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:38.59. Troy finished third in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 58.74.
The Blue Devils are right back in action on Saturday hosting Northeastern at the Jack Suydam Natatorium at 12 noon.
