Swimming and Diving Finishes Competition at College Conference Carnival
Sophomore Kristen Malski put forth the fourth best time in the 100 breastroke, touching in at 1:06.63 as the Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team finished competition at the Swimming World College Conference Carnival at Rutgers on Saturday. The Blue Devils placed sixth in the two day meet in which the University of Minnesota edged out the host Scarlet Knights for the championship.

Carnival at Rutgers on Saturday. The Blue Devils placed sixth in
the two day meet in which the University of Minnesota edged out the

Freshman Christine Smith recorded a sixth place finish in the 1,650
freestyle with a time of 18:07.72. Sophomore Alex
Czaplicki and freshman Taylor Friedmann recorded the other top
10 performances in freestyle events on Saturday. Czaplicki touched
in at 25.40 seconds to place 10th in the 50 free, while Friedmann
tied for eighth in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.05.
Czaplicki also performed well in the 100 backstroke, finishing 10th
in 1:00.52. Freshman Katie Lang also finished in the top 10 in two
events this evening, as she placed 10th in both the 100 butterfly
(1:00.06) and the 400 IM (4:39.57).
Sophomore Madison Vestergaard led the
diving unit with two seventh place finishes on Saturday. She
scored 203.50 points to take seventh in the one-meter dive and
recorded the same place in the three-meter event with a score of
184.25.
The Blue Devils will next compete in dual meet action at Wagner on
Saturday, January 30 at 4:00 p.m.
