Lacrosse Tabbed Ninth In Preseason Poll
The Central Connecticut State University lacrosse team was selected to finish ninth in the Northeast Conference for the 2010 #$%^season, as the pre-season coaches' poll was announced by the conference today. The Blue Devils finished last year's regular #$%^season in eighth out of nine teams in the NEC. Bryant joins the conference standings for the first time in 2010 and were slated #$%^just above CCSU in eighth.

St. Francis (PA), who Central defeated for its only win a season ago, was picked in the 10 spot by the coaches. Sacred Heart, 2009's NEC Champion, was selected to repeat last year's performance and received five out of the 10 first place votes. Monmouth and Quinnipiac earned the rest of the first place nods (three and two), placing second and third in the poll, respectively. Robert Morris and Mount St. Mary's rounded out the top five selections, while Long Island and Wagner were placed just ahead of Bryant in the poll.
Sophomore Alexa Smead will lead the attack this year for Central Connecticut. The Averill, NY native is the top returning scorer, as totaled 20 goals and added five assists a season ago. Junior Cara Momnie will again control the middle of the field in 2010. The draw control specialist broke her own school record for draws in a season, tallying 55 as a sophomore. She was also fourth in the NEC with 23 caused turnovers.
The Blue Devils will start the season off the season with four home contests beginning with a March 2 tilt against Presbyterian.
