The Central Connecticut football team visits Loretto and the Saint Francis U Red Flash in the final game of the 2014 season. The Blue Devils (2-9, 0-5 NEC) are looking for their first Northeast Conference win of the year, while the Flash (5-5, 3-2 NEC) are looking to finish the year above .500.
Series History • This is the 22nd meeting between the Blue Devils and Red Flash on the football field and CCSU holds an 18-3 advantage in the series. The Blue Devils won the last two meetings in the series, both played at Arute Field, but CCSU did lose the last time it visited Loretto.
SanGiacomo Nears Single-Season Record • Quarterback Nick SanGiacomo needs just 174 yards today to set the CCSU single-season record for passing yards. Sam Trione currently holds the single-season record of 2,116 yards, which he set in 1994. SanGiacomo also needs just eight yards to pass Sam Trione (4,413) for third on CCSU's career passing yards list.
Holmes Going for 100 • Senior Tyrell Holmes enters Saturday's action needing seven receptions to become the seventh player in CCSU history to reach 100 career receptions. Holmes also needs 43 yards to become the eighth CCSU player with 1,500 career receiving yards.
Hollomon • Senior running back Rob Hollomon enters today's game with 198 career points, with a score today he would become the third CCSU player to reach 200 career points. Hollomon also has an outside shot at reaching 2,000 all-purpose yards this season and 6,000 for his career.
Another Block for the Special Teams • The Blue Devil special teams have recorded a block in five straight games after blocking a field goal against Howard on Saturday. CCSU also blocked a punt and field goal against Sacred Heart, a field goal attempt at Bryant on Nov. 1, a field goal against Wagner on Oct. 25 and blocked a punt at Robert Morris on Oct. 18.
Three 1,000-Yard Seasons • Senior Rob Hollomon set CCSU's career rushing record earlier this year at Robert Morris, but last week against Howard he became the first player in CCSU history with three seasons of 1,000 or more rushing yards. Hollomon is responsible for three of the 14 individual 1,000-yard rushing seasons in CCSU football history. Nine different players have reached the 1,000-yard mark, with Harold Brown being the first in 1967. In 2006, Justise Hairston set the program record with 1,847 yards on 277 attempts. Stan House, Cory Harge and James Mallory all have two 1,000-yard seasons while playing for CCSU.
