Eberhardt Tabbed XC Athlete Of The Week
Eberhardt finished seventh at the CCSU Mini Meet.
Senior Elizabeth Eberhardt of the Central Connecticut women's cross country team was tabbed NEC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Eberhardt finished seventh out of 129 competitors in the 3K varsity race at the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 24. The meet was hosted by the Blue Devils at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
Eberhardt was the first to cross the finish line and represent not only the Blue Devils, but the entire Northeast Conference with a time of 10:19.34. Eberhardt's time was the fastest recorded 3K time this season in the NEC.
The Thomaston, CT native helped lead the Blue Devils to a fifth place finish out of 20 teams. However, CCSU was the first team to represent the Northeast Conference. Five other teams from the NEC competed in the race other than the Blue Devils.
This is the second career weekly award for Eberhardt. She previously earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors during her freshman campaign.
Eberhardt and the Blue Devils will return to action this Saturday, Nov. 1 in the 2014 Northeast Conference Championships. The race will be hosted by CCSU at Stanley Quarter Park and the women's race is set to begin at 11 a.m.
