Women's XC 23rd At Northeast Regionals
Elizabeth Eberhardt's 95th place individual finish paced the Blue Devils to 23rd at the Northeast Regionals.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team finished 23rd at the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon held at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, NY. Northeast Conference individual champion, Elizabeth Eberhardt, paced the Blue Devils with a 95th place finish. The 6-K race featured a field of 40 teams and 275 of the best cross country athletes in the northeast region.
RESULTS
Eberhardt crossed the finish line first for CCSU with a time of 22:01.14, her best 6-K time of the season, bettering her time on the same course from the Iona Paddy Doyle Meet by over a minute and a half. Finishing right behind Eberhardt was freshman Brittany Mendelson in 102nd place with a time of 22:07.00.
Rounding out the scoring runners for the Blue Devils were senior Krisztina Dearborn, sophomore Ally Gates and senior Shannon McBride. Dearborn crossed the finish line in 132nd place with a time of 22:36.26, Gates finished 161st with a time of 23:01.89 and McBride finished in 171st place with a time of 23:08.25.
Junior Jazmin Booker and Senior Kathleen Wysocki also competed in the race for the Blue Devils. Booker finished in 222nd with a time of 24:02.1 and Wysocki finished 262nd with a time of 25:19.2.
The Blue Devils earned 658 points to collect a 23rd place finish and ended with a combined total time of 1:52.54 and average team time of 22:34.
Iona had two runners finish first and second helping them secure a win at the championships with a team score of 91 points. Providence (128), Dartmouth (136), Syracuse (154) and Boston College (180) rounded out the top-five.
CCSU was the second team to represent the NEC behind 2014 NEC Champions, Sacred Heart (16th - 553). Behind CCSU was Bryant University recording a 34th place finish.
The Blue Devils will return to Van Cortlandt park again next weekend for the running of the IC4A/ECAC Championships on November 22.
