Dearborn and Cronin Recognized by the NEC
Krisztina Dearborn and Victoria Cronin earn NEC weekly awards.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team swept the Northeast Conference weekly awards this week, as the NEC named senior Krisztina Dearborn NEC Athlete of the Week and freshman Victoria Cronin NEC Rookie of the week on Tuesday.
Both student-athletes had excellent performances this past Saturday at the 20th Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle/Iona College Meet of Champions. The women's 6k race was held at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York and featured 163 competitors.
In Dearborn's first race of her senior season she lead CCSU with a 35th place finish. The Tuftonboro, New Hampshire native, crossed the finish line first for the Blue Devils with a time of 23:35.51 at a 6:20 mile pace.
Freshman Victoria Cronin crossed the finish line fifth for the Blue Devils on Saturday with an 88th place finish and a time of 25:54.69. In just her second collegiate meet, the rookie ran at a 6:57 mile clip. She was the only freshman to compete for the Blue Devils.
The duo combined to help lead the Central Connecticut women's cross country team to an 11th place finish out of 20 teams.
The Blue Devils return to action this Saturday, Sept. 27 as they host the 12th Annual Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The starting shotgun for the women's race is set to go off at 11 a.m.
