Volleyball Tops Long Island 3-2 on Senior Day on Saturday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team rallied from down 2-1 and won the final two sets to top Long Island 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Emily Cochran led the attack with 22 kills as the Blue Devils improve to 10-16 overall and 7-8 in Northeast Conference play. Central honored its four seniors prior to the match.

Long Island took the first set 25-20, before the Blue Devils rebounded to win the second set by the same score.
The Blackbirds took set three 25-21 to take the 2-1 lead.
Central answered in a big way in the final two sets. They won the
fourth set 25-23, and then the fifth 15-13. With the fifth set
tied 13-13, and trailing by as many as four points in the set,
Central rallied for the final two points to claim their seventh win
of the conference season.
Cochran's 22 kills led the offensive attack for the Blue Devils. Senior Amanda Bayer had 48 assists to pace Central. Central had 10 blocks in the match, led by six block assists from both senior Tori Vaughan and junior Sara Delacey.
Delacey added 11 kills to her performance, while sophomore Blaike King had 10 kills and 15 digs. Senior Kaitlin Petrella had 29 digs to lead the defense. Bayer added 26 digs.
The Blue Devils return to action on Sunday at Quinnipiac.
