Volleyball Downs Quinnipiac 3-0
The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated NEC rival Quinnipiac three sets to none on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils improve to 6-14 on the season and 3-5 in Northeast Conference action. Sophomore Emily Cochran had 14 kills for the Blue Devils.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated NEC rival Quinnipiac three sets to none on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils improve to 6-14 on the season and 3-5 in Northeast Conference action. Sophomore Emily Cochran had 14 kills for the Blue Devils.
Central set the tone for the match with a comanding 25-18 victory in the first set. Senior Amanda Bayer led the Blue Devils with 12 assist and five digs in the set. Cochran led Central's attack delivering six of the Blue Devils 14 kills.
The second set saw the Blue Devils take an early lead and a set victory 25-21. Senior Kaitlin Petrella had six digs in the second set, while a trio of Blue Devils registered four kills. Senior Tori Vaughan only had seven attacks in the set but still delivered four kills for Central.
The Blue Devils took the match with a 25-21 victory in set number three. Petrella made seven more digs for the Blue Devils and Bayer added another 11 assists. Cochran registered four kills and Vaughan contributed defensively with a pair of blocks.
Bayer had 35 assists, Petrella made 17 digs, and Cochran delivered 14 kills in the match to lead the Blue Devils.
Senior Amanda Bayer was honored before the game for breaking CCSU's career assists record. Following today's contest Bayer has increased her record total of assists to 3,807.
The Blue Devils return to action at Bryant on Wednesday.
