Women's Basketball Ends Season With 69-62 Loss
The Blue Devils fall to Saint Francis U on senior day.
The Blue Devils suffered a tough defeat in the final game of the 2020-21 season. Central tied the game late in the fourth, but could not get over the hump. Central finishes at 4-14 overall and 4-14 in Northeast Conference play. Saint Francis will head to the NEC Tournament, finishing the regular season at 14-8 overall and 12-4 in conference play.
Forever Toppin bounced back from a shaky performance in yesterday's game, scoring 21 points on 7-22 shooting. It marked the second time in three games she scored over 20 points. Dejah Jenkins found her rhythm late in the game, scoring 11 second half points. Senior Ashley Forker finished with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in her final game as a Blue Devil.
The Red Flash was led by Lili Benzel who scored 18 points and knocked down 4 three-pointers. Karson Swogger also added 18 points, going 7-16 from the floor. Haley Thomas (11) and Jada Dapaa (10) also scored in double figures for Saint Francis.

Central struggled from the floor early on, going scoreless for the first four minutes until Jamey Napoleon put the team on the board. The Blue Devils trailed 9-2 halfway through the first.

Saint Francis opened up the second quarter on a 10-0 run, taking a 23-9 advantage at the 6:28 mark.

Forever Toppin was able to cut the lead to 10 going into halftime after she made a right-handed layup of a beautiful dish from Ashley Forker. CCSU shot just 23.3% from the floor in the first half.

After trailing 57-43 in the beginning of the fourth, Central went on a 13-0 run, cutting the lead to just one.

Sophomore Dejah Jenkins drilled a three-pointer to tie the game at 59 with 4:30 to play. SFU once again regained a four point lead until Ashley Forker splashed a three-pointer to cut the lead to one.

The Red Flash scored the 5 points off buckets from Haley Thomas and Karson Swogger to seal the victory.

4 - The Blue Devils honored the four seniors, Tiffany Slicklein, Ashley Berube, Ashley Forker, and Emma McCamus for their final night with CCSU.

Belle Lanpher added 7 points and knocked down one three-pointer. The freshman ended the season shooting 82.5% from the free throw line.
