Central Is Stopped by Sacred Heart on Thursday Night
The Blue Devils lost 68-42 on a cold shooting night.
Central Connecticut loses its third straight game on Thursday night by a score of 68-42. The Blue Devils shot just 25% from the floor, a season low. With the loss, CCSU moves to 2-5 on the season and in NEC play. Sacred Heart wins its second straight, bringing them to 4-5 overall, and 4-3 in the NEC.
Ashley Forker was the only Blue Devil in double figures, scoring 11 points and adding 8 rebounds. Belle Lanpher had a strong third quarter, scoring 6 points. The freshman had 8 on the night on 2-7 shooting.
The Blue Devils struggled all night on the offensive end. The team went 4-21 (19.0%) from three. Central also had its worst performance from the free throw line this season, shooting just 8-17 (47.1%).
Sacred Heart also didn't have a stellar offensive night, shooting under 40% as a team from the floor. However, the team had 13 second chance points compared to just 6 for CCSU. Nikki Johnsona and Adrianne Hagood added 14 points a piece for the Pioneers.
The Blue Devils lose its third game in a row by 20 or more points.

The Blue Devils started cold from the floor, shooting just 2-11 as a team in the first 6 minutes of the ball game. Angelique Rodriguez hit a huge stepback three pointer from the corner at the 2:00 mark in the first quarter to cut the Pioneers lead to 5. CCSU trailed 19-14 at the end of the first.

The second quarter started off as a back and forth affair. Jamey Napoleon made a tough layup halfway through to cut the deficit to 4.

Sacred Heart ended the half on a 8-2 run to take a 30-22 lead. The Blue Devils shot just 1-11 from the three point line in the first half. Dejah Jenkins scored a team high 7 points off the bench.

Ashley Forker and Belle Lanpher scored all 10 points for the Blue Devils in the third quarter. However, the team was outscored 20-11 and trailed by 17 heading into the fourth.

The Blue Devils could not spark a comeback in the final quarter, scoring just 9 points. Senior guard Emma McCamus left the game with an ankle injury early in the fourth and would not return. She came into the game averaging 14.0 points a game, second highest on the team.
