Whittaker Named Men's Track Athlete of the Week
After competing at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational this weekend, Samuel Whittaker was named the Northeast Conference's Track Athlete of the Week.
After nearly breaking the school record in the mile at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational this weekend, Samuel Whittaker was named the Northeast Conference's Track Athlete of the Week.
Graduate transfer Samuel Whittaker was two seconds off the program record in the mile this weekend. He clocked in the conference-best mile time crossing the finish line in 4:06.94 and finished in 121st out of 385 competitors at the meet running against some of the top collegiate-age runners in the country. Whittaker's mile mark is the best of his college career.
Jacob Ireland was also named as a Prime Performer for his performance in the mile. Ireland set a new personal record after crossing the finish line in 4:07.44 in the mile. The senior finished 132nd out of 385 athletes. He also now owns the second-best Mile in the NEC behind Whittaker.
Brooke Morabito was named an NEC Prime Performer. She ran a league-best 16:15.78 5000m time to finish 40th out of 119 competitors at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
The Blue Devils compete in the Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 18-19, 2024 at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY.
