Men's Soccer Falls at Robert Morris, 1-0, on Sunday
The Blue Devils host Bryant on Nov. 6 in regular season finale.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team fell at Robert Morris, 1-0, on Sunday in Moon Township, PA. The only goal came midway through the second half to give the Colonials the win in Northeast Conference action.
CCSU's record slips to 2-11-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the NEC. RMU is now 4-9-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the NEC.
The game's only goal came in the 70th minute when Lucas Puntillo gathered the ball in the box and slid a pass to Bayley Winkel who slipped his shot under CCSU goalkeeper sophomore Carson D'Ambrosio.
The Blue Devils pressured the Colonials' defense in serch of the game-tying goal. In the 84th minute, senior James Randall broke in on goal but RMU keeper Winter Fondi came out to poke the ball free.
With just under five minutes remaining, freshman Andres Muriel Albino chipped a shot on goal, but Fondi managed to tip the attempt off the crossbar.
The Colonials went down a man with just over a minute to play, but the Blue Devils' two shots in the waning moments both went wide of goal.
Central finished with a 20-16 advantage in shots, and held a decisive 6-1 margin in corner kicks. D'Ambrosio finished with five saves for Central, while Fondi made four saves for RMU.
Central will host Bryant on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the team's regular season finale for Senior Day.
