Men's Soccer Honors Seniors in 2016 Finale on Sunday
Blue Devils finish the year 2-12-3 overall and 1-5-1 in the NEC
The Central Connecticut men's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision at home to Bryant on Senior Day on Sunday. The game was the final game of the 2016 season for the Blue Devils. Central ends the year with a 2-12-3 overall record and a 1-5-1 mark in Northeast Conference action.
Bryant is now 2-2-3 in league play and 3-10-3 overall with the victory.
Prior to Sunday's game the Blue Devils honored the five seniors on the roster. Cooper D'Ambrosio, James Randall, Alexander Hastings, EJ Okoro and Daquan King were recognized, along with their families.
Bryant got on the board first on the third goal of the season from Nathaniel Brown. Brown was alone on the left side of the box and fired a left-footed kick by CCSU junior keeper Carson D'Ambrosio.
The lead reached 2-0 on the second goal of the season from Pedro Ferreira. Ferreira fired a corner kick from the right side and in windy conditions the ball went off of D'Ambrosio into the right side of the goal.
Central's King scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season with just under 12 minutes to play in regulation to cut the Bryant lead in half, 2-1. King took and shot that was blocked, then gathered the rebound and fired the shot just over the Bryant keeper's reach for the score.
Bryant's David Abunaw scored his first goal of the season with 5:44 to play to give the Bulldogs the 3-1 lead.
The Blue Devils end the season 2-12-3 overall and 1-5-1 in the NEC.
