Men's Soccer Tabbed Fourth in Preseason NEC Coaches Poll
Blue Devils open season against Vermont on August 29.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team was picked fourth in the Preseason Northeast Conference Coaches Poll it was announced Tuesday. The Blue Devils were picked behind preseason favorite and defending champion, LIU Brooklyn, Saint Francis U and St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Blue Devils return an experienced core, including senior Nick Velleca who started 11 games in goal and posted a 1.79 goals against average. The CCSU attack returns its top two scorers in junior Ryan Taylor and sophomore Louis Beddouri, who both earned All-NEC Second Team honors last season. Taylor finished with six goals and 15 points in 2015, while Beddouri added five goals and 11 points.
The top four teams will qualify for the 2016 NEC Men's Soccer Championship. The home of the highest seed will host the tournament on November 11 & 13 and the games will air live on NEC Front Row.
Central opens its season on Monday, August 29, against Vermont with a 5:00 p.m. kickoff at CCSU Soccer Field.
