Men's Golf Ties for Second in 15-Team Field at Peacock Invitational, Hawerchuk Collects Fourth Place Tie
Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk shot a five-over par 77 on the Neshanic Valley Golf Course to lead Central Connecticut in a tie for second at the Peacock Invitational hosted by Saint Peter's. The Blue Devils posted a 316 team total. They tied Iona and Army atop the leaderboard. Iona was declared the winner by taking the lowest score of the golfer whose score did not count in the team score.

Senior Tim Buczak added a top-10 finish for CCSU. He shot 79 to tie for 10th. Sophomore Tom Ursa, who had the field's lone eagle, and freshman Tucker Dooley each shot 80 for the Blue Devils. They tied for 14th. Sophomore Sam Pelletier rounded out the Central Connecticut team with an 85.
Army sophomore Matt Krembel and Manhattan junior Nick LaBanca tied for first in individual play. Both shot 74. Krembel took home medalist honors after a matching of cards. Bucknell (321) and Saint Peter's (322) rounded out the top-five in the team standings. Central Connecticut was the top Northeast Conference team in the field. Monmouth placed sixth, two spots in front of Quinnipiac. Fairleigh Dickinson took 10th, and St. Francis (NY) finished 14th.
Central Connecticut led the field with 46 pars. The Blue Devils were second in par five scoring (-1) and third in par four scoring (+27). Ursa and Hawerchuk were both two under on the par fives. Hawerchuk, who had 12 pars and a pair of birdies, was also two over on the par fours. Buczak led the Blue Devils on the par threes, posting a one over score.
The Blue Devils will be back on the course this weekend. They are set to travel to Portsmouth, RI for the Northeast Collegiate Invitational hosted by Rhode Island at the Green Valley Country Club.
