Beloin Leads CCSU in Opening Day of Cornell Golf Invite
Central Connecticut freshman Greg Beloin shot a 71 to lead the Blue Devils in opening round play at the Cornell Invitational. He is tied for fifth and four strokes off the lead. Playing the par 72 Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca, NY, the Blue Devils are tied with host Cornell for fifth place out of 15 teams after one round of play. They shot a 297 and are 10 shots back of round one leader, Delaware.

Senior Tim Buczak and sophomore Tom Ursa each shot 75 for the round and are tied for 29th overall. Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk, meanwhile, shot a 76 and is tied for 44th overall. Beloin leads the tournament with two eagles and has the top par five score, shooting four under. Hawerchuk tallied an eagle of his own and is tied for second on par fives at three under par.
Siena senior Dan Abbondandolo is on top of the leaderboard after day one, carding a five under 67. He currently holds a two stroke lead over Delaware freshman Stephen Scialo. Siena is one stroke back of round one leader Delaware, shooting a 288. Columbia and Dartmouth round out the top four, with scores of 290 and 296, respectively.
Final round play begins tomorrow morning.
