Blue Devils Open Spring Season at Patriot Intercollegiate, Buczak Shoots 84-77
Central Connecticut opened its spring season at the 36-hole Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason. Playing in strong winds, the Blue Devils shot 326-325 on the par 71 Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton, VA. Senior Tim Buczak shot 84-77 to lead CCSU. He tied for 11th. Led by 152s from junior Patrick Donovan and sophomore Trevor Fielder, Binghamton won the team title with rounds of 310 and 302. George Washington took second at 630, carding a pair of 315s. The host Patriots shot 327-323 to finish third. Central Connecticut tied for fourth with Georgetown at 651.

Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk and freshman Greg Beloin each posted 163s for the Blue Devils. Hawerchuk shot 80-83, while Beloin carded rounds of 82 and 81. Freshman Tucker Dooley added an 81-83 day, while sophomore Sam Pelletier rounded out the Central Connecticut field with an 86-84 effort.
George Washington sophomore Brendan Barrack tied Donovan and Fielder atop the leaderboard at 152.
Central Connecticut will be back in action on the Laurel Hills Golf Club tomorrow morning. George Mason will host the Patriot Shootout.
