Jean-Guillaume Named Co-NEC Offensive Player of the Week
Helped lead the Blue Devils to a 42-21 win on Saturday
Central Connecticut sophomore running back Drew Jean-Guillaume was named the Northeast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, it was announced by the league office.
Jean-Guillaume was a featured part of the Blue Devils' arsenal in a convincing victory over the reigning Ivy League co-champions, totaling 137 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. The dually-dangerous running back averaged 7.6 yards per carry while finishing the game as CCSU's leading receiver against Penn.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore rushed 10 times for 76 yards and gained 61 yards on six receptions in the 42-21 home win.
Jean-Guillaume opened the game's scoring by capping Central Connecticut's first possession with a 14-yard touchdown burst. His lone other touch on the 10-play, 70-yard drive came in the form of a 12-yard rush that gave CCSU a first down at Penn's 29. Jean-Guillaume found paydirt on a passing play midway through the second quarter. Making his second reception on the drive, the CCSU sophomore scored a seven-yard touchdown that bumped the home team's lead to 28-7 with 7:42 left in the first half.
Jean-Guillaume delivered another key play with CCSU clinging to a 28-21 lead midway through the third quarter, using a 26-yard reception to convert a 3rd-and-10. He added a 14-yard catch to move the chains on a 3rd-and-4 play later during the eventual touchdown drive.
