Women's Cross Country Picked Second in NEC Coaches Poll
Blue Devils season begins September 2 at Saint Francis U.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team was picked second in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll it was announced on Friday. The Blue Devils, last season's NEC runner-up, will be looking to overtake the preseason favorite, Sacred Heart.

Junior Brittany Mendelson was last season's NEC individual champion after posting a time of 17:38.4, nearly 26 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. She was named the NEC Outstanding Performer and will look to help CCSU recapture that NEC title, which it last won in back-to-back years in 1998 and 1999.
Sacred Heart has won the past three league crowns and received nine first-place votes from the coaches. Bryant was picked third, followed by Saint Francis U., which received one first-place vote.
The 2016 NEC Women's Cross Country Championship will be hosted by Saint Francis U in Loretto, PA, on October 29.
