Women's Cross Country Finishes 31st at NCAA Northeast Regional Championships
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team placed 31st at the 2016 NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships on Friday, Nov. 11th at VanCortlandt Park in Bronx, NY.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team placed 31st at the 2016 NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships on Friday, Nov. 11th at VanCortlandt Park in Bronx, NY. In a field of 366 runners, Northeast Conference champion, junior Brittany Mendelson represented Central in 97th place, clocking in a time of 22:18.30, an average mile time of 5:59 across the 6k course. Two weeks ago, Mendelson claimed her third straight NEC Cross Country Title at St. Francis Univeristy, completing the 5k championship course in 19:33.2 (6:17.2 mile pace).
Two sophomores, Dawn Hubbell and Madeline Mondo completed the regional 6,000 meter course within one second of each other. Hubbell turned in a time of 22:59.30, and Mondo clocked in at 23:00.9, good for 161st and 163rd places in the standings, respectively.
Senior Brandy LeClair was the next Blue Devil in, running a 6:20 mile pace, for a time of 23:35.5. Rounding out the Blue Devil NCAA Northeast Regional performances was junior Victoria Cronin (24.45.8) and senior Paxton McNierney (25:05.0).
CCSU accumulated 851 points in their 31st place efforts out of a field of 36 other teams competing Friday.
