
Lacrosse Falls To Columbia In Non-Conference Finale
Risher made 16 saves in 51 minutes of action in goal for CCSU
The Central Connecticut State lacrosse team fell 17-8 to visiting non-conference foe Columbia University Tuesday afternoon on Arute Field. The Blue Devils fall to 2-11 on the year and the Lions are 4-9.
CCSU finished with a 15-12 edge in draw controls for the game.
The Blue Devils close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host LIU at 1:00 pm. CCSU will honor its senior class before the game.
KEY MOMENTS
- Ellie Taylor took 66 seconds to put Columbia on the board as the Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead 4:20 into the game
- Brieanna Bernier (9:40) and Shaelyn Yermal (8:12) scored back-to-back goals for the Blue Devils to tie the score
- The Lions retook the lead on a Natalia Raiszadeh goal with 4:19 to play in the opening quarter started a 6-0 run for the Lions that culminated with a Noelle DeMarinis tally with 9:44 to play in the half and the score 8-2 Lions

- Makayla Winegar bookended a Yermal tally to give the Blue Devils three straight goals to close within 11-6 with 9:27 to play in the third quarter
- Kate Cunning scored a free position goal at 3:19 to put the Lions back up six to wrap up the third quarter scoring
- The Lions scored the first four goals of the final period, to open a 16-6 advantage with 10:15 to play in regulation
