Vendel and Ryan Earn End of Season Awards

A pair of Central Connecticut freshmen received end of the season Northeast Conference honors on Thursday. Betsy Vendel and Mackenzy Ryan were both named to the NEC All-Rookie Team at the conference banquet held on the night before the league championship tournament. Vendel also became the first Blue Devil to earn the accolades of Rookie of the Year in the NEC in the program's history.

Lacrosse Game at Holy Cross Canceled

Central Connecticut State University's final lacrosse game of the season has been canceled. The contest scheduled for Wednesday against Holy Cross will not be played. The Blue Devils finish the 2010 season with a program best record of 5-9. Central Connecticut defeated St. Francis (PA) on Friday to record its fifth win of the season. CCSU will return in 2011, returning all but one player. Senior Courtney Mooney played in the final game of her career, tallying two assists against Robert Morris on Sunday.

Vendel Is NEC Rookie of the Week For Fourth Time

Betsy Vendel earned her league-leading fourth Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor on Monday. The freshman received the accolades after leading the Central Connecticut lacrosse team to a 1-1 week, including a 23-17 win over St. Francis (PA) that gave the Blue Devils' its program-best fifth victory of the season. Vendel scored eight goals and added five assists, while picking up eight ground balls and eight draw controls on the weekend.

Lacrosse Falls Short, Topped by Robert Morris 15-14

Freshman Betsy Vendel scored four goals and recorded three assists, but Central Connecticut State University fell one goal short of Robert Morris in a 15-14 home loss on Sunday. The Blue Devils were unable to capitalize on an 11-8 second half lead and fall to 5-9 on the season and 1-8 in Northeast Conference play. The Colonials improve to 7-8 overall and 5-4 in the NEC. CCSU will finish out the regular season with a non-conference road contest against Holy Cross on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.

Lacrosse Sets Program Record In Wins With 23-17 Victory Over St. Francis (PA)

The Central Connecticut State University lacrosse team broke its single game scoring record for the third time this season as they defeated St. Francis (PA) by a score of 23-17 at home on Friday. The Blue Devils recorded its program-best fifth win of the season as they improved to 5-8 on the year. The Red Flash fall to 6-10 with the defeat. Sophomore Ashley Perkoski led CCSU with five goals in the victory.

Blue Devils Fall to Monmouth 15-9 On the Road

Freshman Meaghan McCurry scored three goals, but Central Connecticut State University fell to Monmouth on the road by a score of 15-9. The Blue Devils fall to 4-8 on the season with the defeat, while the Hawks improve to 7-7 with the victory. CCSU will next return home to host St. Francis (PA) on April 16 at 1:00 p.m.

Conway Scores Two In Loss to The Mount

Junior Michele Conway scored two goals to lead the Blue Devils, but Central Connecticut State University lost a road game to Mount St. Mary's on Friday by a score of 16-5. Sophomore Ashley Perksoski and freshman Meaghan McCurry each tallied one goal and one assist in the defeat. CCSU falls to 4-7 on the season and 0-6 in Northeast Conference play.

Betsy Vendel Named NEC Rookie of the Week For Third Time

Central Connecticut freshman Betsy Vendel was recognized for her outstanding play this week, as the Northeast Conference #$%^honored her with Rookie of the Week honors for the league-leading third time this season. Vendel scored four goals and #$%^recorded nine assists as she tied the CCSU single season record for assists with 19 helpers in 10 games so far in 2010.

Vendel Ties School Record In Blue Devils' Loss to LIU

Freshman Betsy Vendel tied the school record for assists in a single game with five, but the Central Connecticut lacrosse team dropped a 16-14 home decision versus Long Island Saturday afternoon. Vendel also added two goals as the Blue Devils fall to 4-6 on the season and 0-5 in Northeast Conference play. The Blackbirds improve to 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the NEC with the victory. Central will next play at Mount St. Mary's on Friday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m.

CCSU's Win Streak Snapped by Wagner, 17-12

Sophomore Ashley Perkoski scored three goals and added one assist, but Central Connecticut State University gave up six straight goals in the second half and fell to Wagner by a score of 17-12 at home on Thursday. The Blue Devils fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-4 in Northeast Conference action and will next host Long Island on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

CCSU Lacrosse Holds Youth Clinic On Sunday

The Central Connecticut State University lacrosse team held a free clinic for young lacrosse players on Sunday, March 28. Coaches Rachel Tringali and Erin Cayea, along with all of the Blue Devil players helped guide 50 aspiring third-fifth graders through the use of stations and small games on Arute Field.

Vendel Receives Second Rookie of the Week Honor

Betsy Vendel was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for her performances during Central Connecticut State University's road victories over Howard and Liberty this week. The freshman receives the honors for the second time this season. Vednel recorded six goals, four assists and nine draw controls for the week, as CCSU defeated Howard 20-8 and Liberty 21-9.

Blue Devils Win Second Straight, Top Liberty 21-9 On the Road

Five different players scored three goals or more as Central Connecticut State University won its second straight game on the road Friday afternoon. Sophomore Ashley Perkoski led the way with five goals and two assists, while the Blue Devils defeated Liberty by a score of 21-9 in Lynchburg, VA.

Freshman Mackenzy Ryan scored a career best four goals and added one assist as Central Connecticut State University defeated Howard by a score of 20-8 on Wednesday. The Blue Devils broke a four game losing skid and improved to 3-4 on the season with the road victory.

Ryan Scores Three In Central's Loss at Quinnipiac

Freshman Mackenzy Ryan recorded the second three-goal performance of her career, but Central Connecticut State University dropped its fourth straight game on Sunday. Senior Courtney Mooney added her second goal of the season as the Blue Devils fall to 2-4 on the year after losing a 20-4 game at Quinnipiac. CCSU will next continue its four game road trip with contests at Howard and Liberty on March 24 and 26, respectively.

CCSU Drops Road Game at Sacred Heart

Sophomore midfielder Ashley Mara scored two goals, while Central Connecticut State University dropped an 18-3 road decision at Sacred Heart on Friday. Blue Devils' leading scorer freshman Betsy Vendel added two assists in the defeat as CCSU falls to 2-3 on the season. Central will next stay on the road to challenge Quinnipiac on Sunday March 21 at 12:00 p.m.
