The scoring started early in this one, as The Mount's Steve Pathroff sent a cross through the box from the left side and found Chris Wheeler's head in the fourth minute. Wheeler beat CCSU senior goalkeeper Chris Jones to put Mount St. Mary's up 1-0 with only 3:19 off the clock.
Smith got the Blue Devils right back in the game when senior forward Hadji Diop found him one minute and 20 seconds later, at the six yard line. Smith finished on Diop's pass from the left side, beating Mountaineer goalkeeper Chris Davis, and gave CCSU a 1-1 tie that would last throughout the rest of regulation play.
At the half, both the score and the play, was about even. The Mount held a slight 6-5 shot advantage, but Central recorded three corner kicks to Mount St. Mary's zero.
After the break the Mountaineers were on the offensive and finished regulation with a 13-6 shot advantage. Still at a 1-1 tie, the teams went through the first overtime period scoreless. With only 17 seconds remaining in the second overtime, The Mount's Steve Pathroff finished off a Gary Phinith assist to give Mount St. Mary's the victory.
Central will finish out the 2009 season hosting Quinnipiac on Friday, November 6 for senior day.
