Robert Morris came out aggressively, tallying 10 shots in the first half. CCSU only recorded five, but forced Colonials' goalkeeper Matt Felice to make saves on three of them. Blue Devils goalie Paul Armstrong also made three saves in the opening half. No scoring opportunities developed into anything, as both teams went to the locker rooms tied 0-0.
In a tightly contested second half, Central out shot Robert Morris nine to seven and recorded three corner kicks to the Colonials' two. Felice notched four more saves to give him a total of seven, while Armstrong repeated his three save performance from the first half to total six for the game.
Tyrie, coming off the bench because of an injury, was moved to forward in the second half in order to create more scoring chances for the Blue Devils. This coaching strategy paid off when sophomore Christopher Brown played Tyrie a long through ball from the back with only five minutes left in regulation. Brown's perfect pass met Tyrie as he was one on one with Felice. His first touch was around the keeper and his second was in the back of the net. The goal marked Tyrie's fifth of the season, continuing the best offensive season of his career.
Neither team scored again and the Blue Devils improved to 8-6-2
on the year with a 1-0 victory over the home Colonials in Moon
Township, PA. CCSU is now 2-4-1 in NEC play and will next host
Mount St. Mary's on Friday November 7 at 2:00 p.m. Robert Morris
falls to 2-13-3 this season and will next host St. Francis (PA) on
Sunday November 9 for the final game of the season.
