
Jean Named FCS Freshman All-America by FCS Football Central on SI
Redshirt freshman Christopher Jean added a Freshman All-America selection to his 2024 resume.
Central Connecticut State redshirt freshman Christopher Jean was named to the third annual FCS Football Central Freshman All-American Team this week. The team recognized 69 freshman from across 52 FCS programs.
Jean, a defensive back, was named Northeast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-NEC. A native of Rochester, NY, he finished the campaign as the NEC leader in passes defending, averaging 1.4 per game. His four interceptions, including a record-setting three in the win over #19 Duquesne to clinch the NEC title, is tops in the NEC and his 10 PBU's ranked second, despite playing fewer games. Jean finished the campaign with 34 tackles and recovered a league-leading four fumbles, including one that he returned 49 yards for a touchdown.
Jean and the Blue Devils captured the programs seventh NEC Championship and advanced to the FCS playoffs for the third time in program history. CCSU was tabbed last in the NEC Coaches Preseason poll, before rolling out a 5-1 mark in league play. Overall, CCSU posted a 7-6 mark, with its four FCS losses coming by a combined 12 points, and only of its losses coming by more than four points. On the flip side, the seven Blue Devil victories were by a margin of 11.1 points a game.
