COMPLETE 2011 FOOTBALL
SCHEDULE
"We are once again excited to announce our football schedule for
the upcoming season," McInerney said. "We have five games on Arute
Field where we have been tremendously successful during the last
few seasons. We also have a pair of strong non-conference road
games at James Madison and UMass. We are looking forward to our
continued preparation for the fall."
McInerney and the Blue Devils will host Southern on Sept. 3 and
then travel to James Madison on Sept. 10. They will open Northeast
Conference play on the road at Wagner on Sept. 17 before returning
to New Britain to host Monmouth in their NEC home opener on Sept.
24. They will play a second straight home game vs. Sacred Heart on
Oct. 1, before returning to non-conference play at UMass on Oct.
8.
"Our goal each and every season is to win the NEC outright,"
McInerney said. "We are 14-2 in league play over the last two
seasons, and are unbeaten at home. We graduated a strong senior
class, but we are confident that we have the players in place to
contend for another NEC title this fall."
The last six weeks of the season consist of two home games and
three road contests, all in league play. Central travels to
Duquesne on Oct. 15, hosts Albany on Oct. 22 and then travels back
to Western Pennsylvania to face St. Francis (PA) on Oct. 29. The
final regular season home game will take place on Nov. 5 vs. Robert
Morris. Central has a bye week on Nov. 12 and the final scheduled
game of the regular season will be at Bryant on Nov. 19.
The Blue Devils have won back-to-back NEC titles in 2009 and 2010,
and have won or shared four titles since 2004, the most of any team
in the NEC. Once again this season the winner of the NEC will earn
an automatic berth to the NCAA FCS playoffs.
The Blue Devils are currently in the middle of their spring
practice and will finish with the annual Blue-White Scrimmage on
Arute Field on Apr. 29 at 1:30 p.m. Admission to the game is
free.
