Senior Everette Benjamin Named Northeast Conference Football Player of the Week
Following his fourth straight 100 yard rushing performance, senior running back Everette Benjamin was named the Northeast Conference offensive player of the week on Monday. Benjamin and the Blue Devils rallied from an 18-point second half deficit on Friday night to top Albany 30-27 in overtime, and remain unbeaten in NEC play this season. Central is riding a four-game winning streak and is 5-2 overall and 4-0 in league action.

Benjamin was named the Northeast Conference offensive player of
the week on Monday. Benjamin and the Blue Devils rallied from an
18-point second half deficit on Friday night to top Albany 30-27 in
overtime, and remain unbeaten in NEC play this season. Central is
riding a four-game winning streak and is 5-2 overall and 4-0 in
league action.
The senior running back rushed 32 times for 159 yards and two
touchdowns to lift CCSU to an overtime road win that allowed the
Blue Devils to remain unbeaten in league play. He provided 14
points in the game, all in the second half. Benjamin's nine-yard
touchdown run cut the Blue Devils' deficit in half, 24-12, midway
through the third quarter.
He brought CCSU within five points on a 12-yard touchdown run with
5:38 remaining in regulation, but was far from done. With CCSU
needing a two-point conversion to tie following a nine-yard
touchdown pass with 00:36 left, Benjamin rumbled into the end zone
and sent the game to overtime.
Surpassing the 125-yard mark for the fourth consecutive game,
Benjamin ran his season total to 849 rushing yards.
