Baumert and junior captain Amanda Bayer recorded the Blue Devils' third straight block to give CCSU a 9-2 lead in the third set, with Baumert having a hand in all three. The third of the stretch gave her six blocks for the match. That sixth block gave the senior 464 for her career and moved her into second place in Central history for blocks. She passed former Blue Devil star Sarah Haase, who tallied 463 from 1998-01.
CCSU finished the third set 25-15 when Baumert recorded her ninth and final block of the match as she was assisted by freshman Emily Cochran. The Blue Devils tallied 13 of their 24 blocks in the third set. Bayer and freshman Blaike King chipped in two each to go along with Baumert's seven.
King led Central with nine kills, while Cochran recorded a team high 14 digs and added six kills. Bayer had match-bests of 24 assists and four aces, while tallying eight digs and three blocks. Junior Kaitlin Petrella added 10 digs in the victory. Her team-leading 479 digs this season are the second most ever by a Blue Devil in a single season. Petrella holds the record, tallying 594 during her freshman year.
Fairleigh Dickinson was led by freshman Meaghan Wheeler's match-best 12 kills and 10 digs. Libero Kelsey Semler led the Knights with 19 digs, while sophomore Sarah Willey added 22 assists.
CCSU will next play host to Bryant on Wednesday November 11 for the Blue Devils' final regular season match of the season. Baumert and fellow senior Jenna Broadbent will be recognized prior to the 7:00 p.m. start.
