Cochran Leads CCSU to 3-2 Win Over Binghamton
Freshman Emily Cochran recorded team highs of 17 kills and 16 digs to lead the Central Connecticut State University volleyball team to a 3-2 (15-25, 26-24, 26-24, 22-25, 15-12) victory over Binghamton in the Blue Devils' final match of the Yale Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Cochran and junior Kaitlin Petrella were honored with All-Tournament accolades following the two matches over the weekend. Petrella tallied 16 digs in today's victory, moving her into second place all-time in CCSU history for career digs.

The libero, Petrella came into today's match with the Bearcats with 1,115 digs in her two and a half year career. With her second dig, coming in the second set of the match, the Stratford, CT native passed former Blue Devil Chantelle Bowden for second place in Central annals for digs in a career. With 14 more in today's match she currently has 1,171 and is 44 away from becoming the all-time CCSU digs leader.
Sophomore Sara DeLacey, senior captain Jamie Baumert and junior Tori Vaughan combined for 22 blocks to propel CCSU to the 3-2 victory. DeLacey totaled eight and added eight kills on .333 hitting percentage. Baumert and Vaughan both finished with seven blocks, all of the former's coming as block assists. The latter recorded two solo blocks to go along with five block assists. Baumert also added 10 kills on an astounding .500 hitting percentage and Vaughan was second on the team with 11 kills in the match.
Junior captain Amanda Bayer and sophomore Danielle Gasser helped out Petrella and Cochran on the defense, recording 11 and 12 digs, respectively. Bayer also finished with 49 assists in the victory.
Binghamton was led by Anna Lejina and Michelle McDonough, who tallied 23 and 22 kills, respectively. Lindsey Mueller and Brianna Strong recorded match highs in assists and digs for the Bearcats. Mueller finished with 60 assists and Strong totaled 27 digs in the loss.
The Blue Devils are now 5-8 on the season and will play at Quinnipiac tonight in a Northeast Conference match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
