Volleyball Falls to Sacred Heart On the Road
Three Blue Devils finished with double-digit kills, but the Central Connecticut State University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road versus Sacred Heart on Saturday. Freshman Emily Cochran led the way with 14 kills, while junior Tori Vaughan and sophomore Sara DeLacey each tallied 11 in the defeat. CCSU falls to 12-12 overall and 6-2 in the NEC.

Central dropped the first two sets of the match before coming back with a 25-15 third set victory to make it a 2-1 match. The Pioneers took the fourth set 25-22 and improved to 16-7 overall and 6-1 in the conference with the 3-1 victory.
Cochran added 13 digs for the Blue Devils, while Vaughan and DeLacey recorded five and three blocks, respectively. Junior Kaitlin Petrella finished with a match-best 28 digs, while junior captain Amanda Bayer tallied 46 assists, seven digs and three blocks in the loss. Senior captain Jamie Baumert chipped in with seven kills, six digs and five blocks.
Sacred Heart was led by a trio of double-digit attackers as well. Johanna Ovsenek matched Cochran's 14, while Brittany Best and Ashlyn Trimble finished the match with 13 and 10, respectively. It was Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek on the assists, recording a match high 54 in the victory.
CCSU will be on the court again tomorrow as they take on Fairleigh Dickinson on the road at 4:00 p.m.
