Blue Devils Improve to 7-2 in Northeast Conference With Sweep of FDU
Senior captain Jamie Baumert and freshman Emily Cochran each recorded nine kills, as the Central Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-18) on the road on Sunday. Baumert added a match-best seven blocks, while Cochran tallied 12 digs to help the Blue Devils improve to 13-12 on the season and 7-2 in the Northeast Conference.

At no point were the Blue Devils in danger of dropping this match, as they recorded a team hitting percentage over .300 in two of three sets, while they held FDU to a negative hitting percentage in two out of three.
Junior Tori Vaughan added seven kills and five blocks for CCSU, while junior captain Amanda Bayer chipped in with four blocks of her own. Bayer, the setter, finished with a match high 31 assists and added 11 digs and two aces in the victory. Junior Kaitlin Petrella was the third Blue Devil to record double-digit digs, tallying 10.
The Knights were led by Ali Philbrick with eight kills, 10 digs and two blocks. FDU falls to 4-20 on the season and 1-7 in NEC play.
CCSU will next return home to take on Robert Morris on Saturday October 31 at 4:00 p.m.
