CCSU Places Three Players On All-NEC Volleyball Teams
Senior captain Amanda Olmstead and sophomore Lauren Snyder were selected to the the All-Northeast Conference First Team, while junior Jamie Baumert received All-NEC Second Team honors. This marks the first time in Olmstead's career she received All-NEC accolades, while Baumert has been on the all conference teams for three straight years at CCSU. Snyder also recieved the honors last year in her first season in New Britain. The awards were presented on Friday evening at the NEC banquet on the eve of the conference tournament. The Championships are being held at Robert Morris University.

Olmstead has had an illustrious career at Central Connecticut and would like to top it off with an NEC Championship this weekend in Moon Townwhip, PA. As a freshman she led the Blue Devils in hitting percentage with a mark of .276 and received NEC Rookie of the Week honors once. During her sophomore campaign, the Wilmington, DE native led CCSU in kills, with 263, and aces, with 42. Olmstead had a great all-around junior year, tallying 208 kills on .309 hitting percentage. She also tallied 45 aces and 95 blocks. In this, her senior year, she is again leading the Blue Devils in hitting percentage, with a mark of .261. She is also currently second in kills with 238.
Baumert received All-NEC Second Team as well as NEC Rookie of the Year honors in her freshman season at CCSU. In that year she was named NEC Rookie of the Week four times, while leading the NEC in hitting percentage. Her mark of .372 ranks her third in Central Connecticut history for hitting percentage in a single season. She was also first on the team and second in the NEC in blocks per set, with 1.26. Last season, as a sophomore, Baumert was named to the All-NEC First Team and again led the Blue Devils in hitting percentage (.330). Her blocking prowess continued as she led all NEC competitors with 109 total blocks. This season the Elkhorn, NE native leads CCSU and the NEC with 103 blocks. She also is second on the team in hitting percentage with a mark of .245.
Snyder was named to the All-NEC Second Team in her freshman season at CCSU. She was named NEC Rookie of the Week twice while leading the Blue Devils in kills. Her total of 457 ranks her third in Central Connecticut history for single season kills. The Fort Mitchell, KY native was also second on the team with 265 digs in her freshman campaign. This season Snyder is again leading CCSU in kills with 297 and is second in digs with 189. She is currently fourth in the NEC with 3.30 kills per set.
CCSU finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-13 and a 5-3 mark in NEC play. The Blue Devils are the number three seed in this weekend's NEC Tournament and will take on sixth seeded Sacred Heart on Saturday November 22 at 12:30 p.m.
