Blue Devils Fall to Cal In First Day of Fullerton Classic
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to California, 3-0, in their first day of competition at the Fullerton Classic. The Blue Devils are now 3-6 on the season and will be continuing play tomorrow against Cal State Fullerton and San Francisco.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to California, 3-0, in their first day of competition at the Fullerton Classic. The Blue Devils are now 3-6 on the season and will be continuing play tomorrow against Cal State Fullerton and San Francisco.
The Golden Bears defeated CCSU in three sets (25-10, 25-11, 25-15) and junior Hana Cutura led all players with 13 kills. Sophomore Carli Lloyd and junior Kristen Kathan finished with game highs, recording 26 assists and 15 digs, respectively.
The Blue Devils were led by sophomore Lauren Snyder and junior Jamie Baumert, who each tallied five kills in the loss. Baumert added two blocks to lead CCSU. Sophomores Amanda Bayer and Kaitlin Petrella recorded team highs of 11 assists and six digs, respectively. Sophomore Maite Mendizabal contributed with three service aces and five digs for Central.
The Blue Devils are now 3-6 this season and will continue their play in the Fullerton Classic tomorrow when they compete against Cal State Fullerton at 1:00 p.m. ET and then against San Francisco at 4:30 p.m. ET. After returning from California, CCSU will stay close to home as they head to Sacred Heart on Saturday September 27 for an 11:00 a.m. match.
