Harding Named UWS East Conference Defensive Player of the Week

Former women's soccer center-back, Cailynn Harding, was named the United Women's Soccer (UWS) East Conference Defensive Player of the Week it was announced via a release on Monday afternoon by the UWS. Harding, who is on the New England Mutiny of the UWS league, was vital in helping lead the Mutiny to a 3-0 victory over the New York Magic in the team's opening game of the season last Saturday.

Harding was a resolute force in the central defense for New England in their 3-0 win over New York. The former Central Connecticut State University defender helped break up nearly every attack the Magic had in Mutiny territory and connected her clearances with precision. Her teamwork with her fellow defenders forced the Magic to long-range shots that didn't dent the net of Mutiny goalkeeper Anne-Marie Ulliac.

Harding, a native of Cheshire, CT, played in 70 career games during her time at CCSU making 53 starts. She was an integral part of the Blue Devils' back-four defenders, who combined with goalkeeper Nicki Turley limited opponents to just 15 goals over the course of 17 games last season.

The New England Mutiny are based out of East Longmeadow, MA and play its home games at East Longmeadow High School. Harding is one of four other Blue Devils on the roster joined by Jennifer Cafferky, Claire Walsh, Charlie Branch and Ashley Cavanaugh. The team's next game is slated for Sunday, May 22 against the Lancaster Inferno at Millersville University and kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
