The Northeast Conference announced its 2015-16 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Tuesday morning at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The announcement was part of the opening of the league's fourth annual NEC "Social" Media Day.
Central Connecticut received one first place vote and was picked to finish third in the NEC by a vote of the conference's head coaches. The third place prediction matches the highest ranking for Blue Devils ever in the NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as CCSU was also slotted third in the 2009-10 poll. The first place nod, however, is the first for Central since joining the league.
The Blue Devils finished last season with a 19-13 overall record and tied for first in the NEC regular season standings with a 14-4 mark after being picked to finish tied for last in the 2014-15 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The 14 NEC wins set a new standard for most conference wins in a season in program history and the regular season co-championship was also the first for the program.
