Women's Basketball Faces Robert Morris Monday Night on ESPN3
The CCSU women's basketball team looks for the season sweep over Robert Morris as they travel to Moon Township, PA on Monday night for a 7 p.m. game on ESP3.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team (9-13, 6-5 NEC) wraps up its annual Western, PA road trip stopping at Robert Morris (13-9, 7-4) on Monday night for a 7 p.m. game that will be broadcasted on ESPN3. The game will feature two of the NEC's top defensive teams as the Blue Devils look for the season sweep over the Colonials in a clash inside the Sewall Center in Moon Township, PA.

Tonight • The Central Connecticut women's basketball team (9-13, 6-5 NEC) completes its annual Western, PA road trip with a stop at Robert Morris (13-9, 7-4 NEC) on Monday night. The game features the second and third ranked defenses in NEC action this season with CCSU second allowing just 58.7 ppg in NEC games and RMU third at 59.0 ppg. Tip-off between the Blue Devils and Colonials is scheduled for 7:04 p.m. inside the Sewall Center as tonight's game will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
ESPN3 • Tonight's game will be broadcasted live on ESPN3. It marks the second Monday night game in a row the Blue Devils have been featured on ESPN3. They hosted Bryant last Monday night in New Britain on ESPN3, falling 65-53. John Schmeelk (PxP) and Kim Adams (Color) will have the call.
Last Time Out • The Blue Devils put together one of their best performances of the season defeating Saint Francis U, 79-59, on the road on Saturday. 79 points marked a season-high total for CCSU as they shot the best they have all season from the floor at 46.7% (28-60). They dominated down low out-scoring the Red Flash 40-30 in the paint and out-rebounding them 47-37. They also forced 14 SFU turnovers and turned them into 25 points. Junior Aleah Epps led four Blue Devils in double-figures with 15. Senior TeJahne Malone and sophomore Camden Musgrave both added 14 and sophomore Emma Stroyan tied her career-high with 12.
Series History (14-19) • Tonight's matchup marks the 34th meeting all-time between these two programs at the Division I level. RMU holds a 19-14 advantage in the series and has won the last seven straight meetings in Moon Township.
Earlier This Season • The Blue Devils topped the Colonials earlier this season, 48-39, back on Jan. 25 at home. Central's defense stymied the Colonials all game forcing 19 turnovers and allowed just 39 points, the fewest that Robert Morris has scored since they fell 68-35 at Michigan State on Nov. 25, 2012. Robert Morris was just 29.1% (16-55) shooting in the game, including 18.8% (3-16) from beyond the arc. Musgrave led the way with a game-high 15 points for CCSU. Epps added 11. Jocelynne Jones was the high scorer for RMU with 11.
Piper vs. RMU • Head Coach Beryl Piper faces her toughest NEC opponent in RMU in her nine year tenure at the helm of the Blue Devils. She has never beaten RMU in Moon Township (0-7) and is just 4-11 (.267) against the Colonials all-time.
Scouting the Colonials • The Colonials are 13-9 overall, 7-4 in the NEC and sport a 7-2 mark at home. They average 64.4 points as a team and are led by Ana Niki Stamolamprou who averages 13.9 ppg (14.8 in NEC games). She is the only player who averages in double-figures, but the Colonials use a balanced attack as they have seven players who average over 5.0 ppg, including Stamolamprou. Megan Smith is RMU's leading rebounder at 6.1 rpg, but they also have three other players who pull down atleast 5.0 rpg on average. The Blue Devils will have to work hard on the glass as they face the best offensive rebounding team in NEC games in RMU at 15.09 offensive rebounds per game.
Up Next For CCSU • The Blue Devils will return to action next as they conclude a four game road swing next weekend at second place Sacred Heart on Saturday and then at LIU Brooklyn on Monday night. Impact Performance • Brianna Jacobs played a huge role in the Blue Devils last win over the Red Flash on Saturday. In just 14 minutes of floor time, the sophomore scored a career-high five points and tied her career-high with seven rebounds. She was 3-of-4 shooting from the floor and also added a pair of steals.
Offensive Surge • Central scored a season-high 79 points on Saturday in its win over Saint Francis U. They were consistent, sinking 15+ points in each quarter and had a season-high 40 points at halftime. It marked just the third time this season the Blue Devils have scored 70+ points in a game and was the highest point total since they scored 83 at Wagner on Jan. 31, 2015.
