Women's Basketball Signs Aleah Epps
Aleah Epps will join the Blue Devils as a freshman guard this fall.
Head women's basketball coach Beryl Piper has announced the addition of Aleah Epps to the program for the Fall of 2013. Epps a 5-4 guard from Bowie, Maryland has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Central Connecticut and will enroll as a freshman.
Epps helped her team at Archbishop Spalding High School to the 2013 IAAM Class "A" Championship this past season. Epps, a point guard, will be the second Archbishop Spalding alumna on the CCSU roster in 2013-14 current Blue Devil Raven Makins also played for head coach Bookie Rosemond's squad.
"It is exciting to have a young lady who played a key role in winning the IAAM Class "A" Championship in Maryland join our program," Piper said on Friday morning. "Aleah is a quick and athletic point guard who will bring intensity on the defensive end."
Makins and Epps had formed the Archbishop Spalding back court and the duo will now reunite at Central.
In addition to this year's championship, Epps was also a part of a 2011 IAAM "A" champion team and two teams that finished as the IAAM "A" runner-up during her high school career. Individually, Epps earned a First Team All-IAAM selection as a senior.
"She is a play maker who loves to get her teammates involved and we are excited to see her in a Central uniform," Piper added.
