Hawerchuk Closes Out NCAA Division I Men's Golf Northeast Regional with a 74, Ties for 38th

Central Connecticut sophomore Eric Hawerchuk completed the three-day, 54-hole NCAA Division I Men's Golf Northeast Conference Regional at the Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, NJ with a final round 74. It was his best of the tournament. The Orangeville, Ontario native opened with an 80 and then shot 75 yesterday on the par 71, 7,022 yard course. He totaled a 229 to finish in a tie for 38th out of 74 participants. Hawerchuk was the top finisher from the Northeast Conference, which was also being represented in the 14-team field by Sacred Heart.

Hawerchuk's nine over par round on the par 71, 7,022 yard course put him in a tie for 44th out of 74 participants. He is one #$%^of five individuals in the field, which also includes golfers from 14 teams.

Hawerchuk and Buczak Represent CCSU Men's Golf on All-Northeast Conference Teams

A pair of Central Connecticut men's golfers were named All-Northeast Conference selections by the league office this afternoon. Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk, the Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship medalist this season, represented the Blue Devils on the first team, while senior Tim Buczak appeared on the second team. It was Buczak's third career all-conference honor.

NCAA Regional Fields Announced, Hawerchuk to Compete at Galloway National Golf Club in New Jersey

Central Connecticut sophomore Eric Hawerchuk was selected by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf committee to participate in the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. The Orangeville, Ontario native will play at one of six 54-hole regional tournaments. He is one of five individuals slated to compete at the Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, NJ. Hawerchuk earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regionals with his win at the Northeast Conference Championships. He shot a four under 212 in the three-day, 54-hole event on the International Course at ChampionsGate Golf Club in ChampionsGate, FL.

Hawerchuk Wins 2009 Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championships, Blue Devils Finish Second

Central Connecticut sophomore Eric Hawerchuk finished off his wire-to-wire victory at the Northeast Conference Championships, shooting a final round 75 to win by two strokes at the par 72 ChampionsGate Golf Club's International Course. The Orangeville, Ontario native shot 68-69 to share the top spot following first and second round play. Hawerchuk, who joins Bobby Myles as the only Blue Devils to earn medalist honors at the NEC Championships, led CCSU to a second place finish in the team standings. He also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. Central Connecticut posted a three-day 909 (306-293-310) total.

Hawerchuk Retains Lead at NEC Championships, Blue Devils Vault into Third

Central Connecticut sophomore Eric Hawerchuk maintained his spot atop the NEC Men's Golf Championships leaderboard through two days. Hawerchuk shot a second round 69 on the par 72, 6,937 yard International Course at ChampionsGate Golf Club, putting him at seven under 137 heading into tomorrow's final round action. He is tied with Long Island senior Greg Nicolson. As a team, the Blue Devils jumped from a tie for sixth into sole possession of third with a Saturday-low 293. At 599, they are seven strokes behind Sacred Heart, which followed an opening round 295 with a 297. Long Island, which held the day one lead, is in second at 595 (292-303).

Hawerchuk Opens NEC Championships with Field-Best 68, Blue Devils Sit in Sixth Place Tie

Central Connecticut sophomore Eric Hawerchuk shot a four-under par 68 on the International Course at the ChampionsGate Golf Club to earn a share of the opening round lead in the Northeast Conference Championships. Hawerchuk shot 36-32 on the par 72, 6,937 yard course in ChampionsGate, FL. As a team, CCSU is tied for sixth. The Blue Devils recorded a 306 total. They are 14 strokes off the pace set by Long Island (292), which got 70s from senior Greg Nicolson and sophomore Rocky Co. Defending champion Sacred Heart (295) is three shots behind the Blackbirds.

CCSU Men's Golf Places Third at Northeast Collegiate Invitational, Buczak Ties for Sixth

Central Connecticut senior Tim Buczak tied for sixth at the Northeast Collegiate Invitational. His 76-72 day on the Green Valley Golf Club in Portsmouth, RI led the Blue Devils to a fifth place team finish in the 36-hole event.

Men's Golf Ties for Second in 15-Team Field at Peacock Invitational, Hawerchuk Collects Fourth Place Tie

Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk shot a five-over par 77 on the Neshanic Valley Golf Course to lead Central Connecticut in a tie for second at the Peacock Invitational hosted by Saint Peter's. The Blue Devils posted a 316 team total. They tied Iona and Army atop the leaderboard. Iona was declared the winner by taking the lowest score of the golfer whose score did not count in the team score.

Blue Devils Tie for Fourth in Rain-Shortened New England Division I Championships

Central Connecticut tied for fourth at the New England Division I Championships on Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, RI. The second day of the event was shortened to nine holes due to inclement weather. Sophomore Tom Ursa and freshman Tucker Dooley each shot two-over par 37 for the Blue Devils. Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk had the team's top two-day total. He posted a 113 (74-39) to tie for seventh on the individual leaderboard. CCSU totaled a 460 team score, tying Rhode Island for fourth place in the 10-team field.

Hawerchuk Leads Blue Devils with Opening Round 74 at New England Division I Championships

Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk shot a two-over par 74 to lead Central Connecticut in opening round play at the New England Division I Championships on the Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, RI. Hawerchuk is tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard. The Blue Devils posted a 305 team total. They are third in the 10-team field.

Hawerchuk and Dooley Each Card 77 at Patriot Shootout, Blue Devils Finish Third

Sophomore Eric Hawerchuk and freshman Tucker Dooley each shot 77 to lead Central Connecticut in a third place finish at the Patriot Shootout hosted by George Mason. The Blue Devils posted a 393 team total on the par 71 Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton, VA. George Mason won the event witha 380. Binghamton placed second at 389.

Blue Devils Open Spring Season at Patriot Intercollegiate, Buczak Shoots 84-77

Central Connecticut opened its spring season at the 36-hole Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason. Playing in strong winds, the Blue Devils shot 326-325 on the par 71 Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton, VA. Senior Tim Buczak shot 84-77 to lead CCSU. He tied for 11th. Led by 152s from junior Patrick Donovan and sophomore Trevor Fielder, Binghamton won the team title with rounds of 310 and 302. George Washington took second at 630, carding a pair of 315s. The host Patriots shot 327-323 to finish third. Central Connecticut tied for fourth with Georgetown at 651.

Blue Devils Chosen Third in Northeast Conference Men's Golf Preseason Poll

Central Connecticut was picked to finish third in the Northeast Conference according to the league coaches poll released this afternoon. Led by two-time all-conference performer Tim Buczak, a senior, and sophomores Tom Ursa and Eric Hawerchuk, the Blue Devils will look to earn a fifth league title. They finished third last season, marking the 11th consecutive top-four finish.
