Men's Basketball Signs Camacho and Williams
Blue Devils travel to Binghamton for Wednesday night contest.
Head coach Donyell Marshall and the Central Connecticut men's basketball program announced the signings of Eduardo Camacho and Talek Williams on Thursday. The pair of standouts are the first signings for the Blue Devils during the early signing period and will join the program for the 2017-18 season.
A 6-foot-1 point guard, Camacho plays for Miami Christian High School and is one of the top players in the state of Florida. As a junior, he led Miami Christian to a 21-8 record and a trip to the Class 2A Region 4 title game where he scored a game-high 31 points. He averaged 19 points per game and 9.0 assists per game, while being named Class 2A Second Team All-State by the Orlando Sentinel and All-Dade 4A-2A First Team. Miami Christian enters the season as one of the top teams in in the Miami area as selected by the Miami Herald.
"Eduardo is a really good point guard, who can score and gets the guys around him involved," Marshall said. "He's very tough-minded, and in addition to being a scorer he defends well and really knows how to play. As a CCSU reference, he reminds people of and is compared to Javier Mojica. "
Williams is a 6-foot-2 guard who can play on the wing. He earned Eastern Pennsylvania Conference First Team All-Star honors for Allen High School in Allentown, PA as a junior. Williams averaged 19.8 points per game and 6.8 rebounds to earn Morning Call All-Area recognition and scored 27 points in the EPC championship game.
"Talek is a very athletic player who can play the "2" or "3"," said Marshall. "He plays with a chip on his shoulder and has an exceptional work ethic. He can really jump and is an exciting scorer who can slash to the basket."
The Blue Devils return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 22, when they host Penn. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Detrick Gymnasium.
