Men's Basketball to Open Season With Exhibition vs. Alvernia
Blue Devils open 2016-17 regular season on November 11.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team will begin the 2016-17 season with an exhibition game against Alvernia College on Friday, November 4, at Detrick Gymnasium it was announced on Monday. The game will be free and open to the public.
"It will be a chance for the Blue Devils' fans to see our team," head coach Donyell Marshall said. "I'm looking forward to coaching against Alvernia and coach Miller and my son, Marquis. It will be kind of like the student going against his mentor and I am excited for the game."
Marshall, who is set to begin his first season in charge of the Blue Devils, played for Alvernia head coach Mike Miller at Reading High School before going on to star at the University of Connecticut and later in the NBA. Miller earned three Berks County Coach of the Year awards while at Reading. He has led Alvernia to six NCAA Tournament appearances and
The Blue Devils return seven letterwinners from last season's squad and welcome a group of seven newcomers. CCSU opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11, at home against local rival, Hartford.
