Men's Basketball Travels to Maine Wednesday
The Blue Devils are facing their third America East opponent of the season.
Central Connecticut returns from the a break to play at Maine on Wednesday night. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, ME. The Blue Devils are 1-3 on the year and are coming off a loss to Penn on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The Black Bears are 2-4 after defeating Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday.
Bruce Biel (play-by-play) and Marc Robbins (analyst) will call the game for CCSU on News Radio 1410. The game will also be available live on ESPN3.

Central returns home on Saturday, Dec. 3, to host Brown. CCSU will travel to Rutgers on Dec. 6 to commence a seven-game road trip. Central will play four games in 12 days - all on the road. The Blue Devils open Northeast Conference action on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31 with road games at Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn, respectively.
Blue Devils Sign Two
Eduardo Camacho and Talek Williams signed with CCSU during the November early-signing period. Camacho is a 6-1 guard from Miami, FL. He was named 2nd Team All-State after averaging 19.0 points and 9.0 assists per game as a junior. Williams is a 6-2 guard from Allentown, PA. He averaged 19.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and was named an EPC First Team All-Star as a junior.
Ross Added To The Staff
Donyell Marshall announced that Anthony Ross would be joining his staff as an assistant coach on Nov. 18. Ross comes to CCSU after serving as an assistant at East Stroudsburg, his alma mater, last season. ESU went 21-7 and went to the PSAC Quarterfinals with him on staff last year. Ross was head coach at Penn State-Lehigh Valley for three seasons and was an assistant at Moravian College prior to that. He replaces Obie Nwadike who took a job with the NBA in China just before the season.
KC Leads The Band of Returnees
Senior Khalen Cumberlander is CCSU's most experienced returnee. In 89 career games, 68 starts, Cumberlander has averaged 9.0 points, 2.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He has scored 800 career points and has 73 career steals. Last season against Hartford, Cumberlander posted 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in a near triple-double. His first double-double included career-highs for rebounds (12) and assists (8). Cumberlander is averaging 11.3 points per game and shooting .500 from the field with three double-figure games this year.
Nehls Returns After NEC All-Rookie Season
Sophomore Austin Nehls earned Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team honors in 2015-16. Nehls is scoring a team-high 13.8 points per game and is shooting .485 from the field (.867 at the foul line). Nehls currently ranks 6th in the NEC with 2.5 3fg/game and is 8th in the league shooting .455 from the arc. Nehls tied a CCSU freshman record for three-pointers (71) and tied for the 9th-most in single-season history at CCSU.
Bowles and Batiste Point The Way
Sophomore Eric Bowles and freshman Tyson Batiste have given CCSU steady play at the point guard position to start the year. Bowles opened the season with a career-high eight assists and had zero turnovers against Hartford. Bowles' start has him atop the Northeast Conference stat rankings with a 5.0 assist-turnover ratio. He ranks 7th with 3.75 assists/game. Batiste has started every game and ranks 2nd with a 2.29 assist/turnover ratio. His 4.0 assists/game ranks 5th in the NEC. Central had 24 assists on 30 field goals against Hartford. As a team the Blue Devils rank second in the NEC with 15.5 assists per game and second with a 1.29 assist/turnover ratio. The Blue Devils rank 8th nationally, committing just 48 total turnovers (12.0/game - 67th nationally.
A Long December (Road Trip)
Central will play seven straight road games during the month of December after opening the month at home vs. Brown. The road trip will be the longest for the Blue Devils since opening the 2014-15 season with eight straight games away from home when they started 1-7.
