Mobley Repeats as NEC Rookie of the Week
Helped Blue Devils win at RMU on Saturday
Central Connecticut freshman guard Matt Mobley has won his second straight Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week award on Monday. Mobley and the Blue Devils went 1-1 in league play last week, including a come-from-behind victory on the road at league-leader Robert Morris.
For the week Mobley averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals while played 68 of a possible 80 minutes for CCSU. In the first game of the week he scored 12 points and his a pair of threes, while grabbing five rebounds, in a loss at St. Francis U.
On Saturday, Mobley saved his best for last, scoring 10 of his 12 points in the final 6:30 minutes, including the game-winning free-throws with 2.2 seconds left as Central capped the big comeback for its second league win of the season. Mobley added a steal on the final play of the game to seal the win. Down 13 with 3:43 left, Mobley grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a three to make it a 10 point game. On the next possession he hit another three to make it seven. Down one with 2.2 seconds left Mobley calmly drained two free-throws to give CCSU the road victory.
