Men Open NEC Play Tonight vs. Wagner
Blue Devils and Seahawks tip at 7 p.m. in Detrick Gym
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team begins Northeast Conference play tonight hosting Wagner in Detrick Gym beginning at 7 p.m. The Blue Devilsm, 4-9 overall, will play their first four games in league play at home. Central is 3-2 at home this season.
What's Happening
The Blue Devils open Northeast Conference play at home vs. Wagner tonight. CCSU plays its first four NEC games at home, and won't play on the road again until Jan. 23 at Wagner. Following those four home games Central will play its next four NEC games on the road, including the annual trip to Western PA on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1. The Blue Devils finished the non-conference portion of their schedule 4-9 overall, including three home victories. Central is 3-2 at home this season entering tonight's game.
SERIES HISTORY - Tied 18-18
This is the 37th meeting between the two programs with the series now tied 18-18. Each team won on its own floor last season before Wagner won at home in the quarterfinal round of the NEC Tournament. Wagner has won four of the last six including twice at home in the NEC Tournament. Head coach Howie Dickenman is 16-14 all-time vs. Wagner, including 11-3 at home.
Home for Four
The Blue Devils begin a four-game Northeast Conference swing tonight vs. Wagner and will continue with a home game vs. St. Francis U on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed with games next Thursday vs. St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn on Saturday. The Blue Devils are 31-13 at home in the last four seasons, including 19-8 against league opponents. At home the Blue Devils are giving up 70.2 points per game and teams are shooting just 43.1 percent from the field.
