Football Announces 2016 Schedule
Blue Devils will play five home games in 2016
Third-year head coach Pete Rossomando announced the 2016 Central Connecticut football schedule on Thursday. The Blue Devils will play five home games this season, highlighted by the season-opener on Friday night, September 2, vs. Lafayette at 6 p.m.
Central will play five home games and six on the road in Rossomando's third season in New Britain. The Blue Devils finished 4-7 overall a year ago but were 3-3 in Northeast Conference play, finishing in a tie for third place. Their league record included wins over Sacred Heart and Bryant who also finished 3-3 in the league.
Following the home opener vs. Lafayette, the Blue Devils will travel to James Madison on Saturday, September 10. They return home on Saturday, September 17 to host Bowie State for the second consecutive season.
NEC play begins the following week when Central travels to Bryant to face the Bulldogs on September 24 at 1 p.m.
The Blue Devils will then travel to Penn to face the Quakers on October 8 at historic Franklin Field. The Blue Devils and Penn are meeting for the first time ever in football.
CCSU celebrates Homecoming the following weekend hosting Wagner at 1 p.m. on October 15 on Arute Field. The game is followed by the last non-conference game of the season, on the road at Coastal Carolina on October 22. The Chanticleers finished 9-3 overall a year ago and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the fourth straight season.
The Blue Devils stay on the road the following week traveling to Robert Morris on October 29. They return home to face Sacred Heart on Novemeber 5, followed by a trip to St. Francis U on November 12 and the final regular season game on November 19 at home vs. defending conference champion Duquesne at 12 p.m.
