Pauldo Named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week
Quarterback threw a pair of touchdowns in the season-opener on Friday night
Redshirt freshman quarterback Tavion Pauldo was named the Northeast Conference Football Rookie of the Week on Monday. Pauldo earned the start in the season-opening loss to Lehigh on Friday night. Pauldo saw limited action in 2014, and was granted a redshirt following an injury in the road loss to Dartmouth a year ago.
Starting under center, the redshirt freshman accounted for a pair of touchdowns in Central's season opener against Patriot League member Lehigh. Pauldo finished the game 12-of-21 passing for 116 yards, including scoring strikes of 32 and 6 yards.
The dual threat signal caller also rushed for 78 yards on 12 carries and finished with a team-high 49 net rushing yards (after factoring in three quarterback sacks). Pauldo put CCSU on the scoreboard late in the first half, finding Joey Fields for a 32-yard touchdown pass that cut CCSU's deficit to 17-7 heading into the break.
Pauldo pulled the Blue Devils within one touchdown when his 6-yard scoring strike capped a 10-play, 70-yard fourth-quarter drive.
Pauldo and the Blue Devils travel to Stony Brook on Saturday night for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
